EU Plastics

Legal Situation

A visual review of European plastic laws

About

Every year, plastic waste shows an increasing trend. Although people have subconsciously reduced the use of plastic products, this is far from enough. Whether the laws and policies of various countries can follow the pace of environmental protection has become a key issue.

Use 5W1H method to analyze the problem

Data & Analysis

I sorted out and counted the data from the UN environment report to form my preliminary data source. It can be found that the vast majority of legislation targets plastic bags rather than single-use plastics, which are the main source of pollution.

It is difficult to directly compare the laws of other countries, and choosing the EU country as the theme will be more comparable
Audience & Moodboard

Conducting research on my target audience to understand their thinking and possible blind spots about the relevant laws, which helps to design the final visualization

Dark blue is the color of the EU flag and is often used as the color of law

Sketch & Develop

After various attempts, I settled on using the “lotus” shape as my final solution. The lotus, a plant known for purifying water, aligns well with the goal of reducing plastic pollution.
